Six Reasons GK2 is the Ultimate Hub for the Sweet-Toothed

I believe we have been given life to enjoy two things: first, sex; second, sweets. Think about it. Further, what do you ladies crave the most before your period? Yeah!  Dark, silky and smooth chocolate. Moreover, if I were to dive into the psychological aspect, I think, we  are all conditioned by sweets. As kids, whenever, we did anything right or ‘good’, our parents always reward us with a toffee or a chocolate. Conclusion? Dessert is the best. We recently went around the Greater Kailash neighbourhood on a sweet trail and have made a list of our favourites to share with you. Are you ready?

La Mia

This is relatively a new bakery that has opened up in GK2. We stumbled upon this bakery by chance as we were getting out of Culinaire after having a nice dinner. As we started to walk towards our car which was parked across the street, we saw this pretty looking flower shop and then, when we shifted our focus to the shop next to it, we found this pretty little haven called La Mia. You know those bakery shops which make their products too sweet thinking that it would make it more indulgent. Well, these guys are not sticking to that. Their sweets are not too sweet yet you will feel like you’re treating yourself. Additionally, they have this amazing sitting area that is overlooking the relatively less busy road of GK2. The overall ambience of this place will definitely leave you feeling like you are sitting in some roadside cafe in France or Italy.

Must try at La Mia: Blueberry Muffin; Apple Pie Pastry; Banoffee Pie Pastry; Apple Crumble Muffin; Pain Au Chocolat Viennoiserie

Find them at: S 353, Greater Kailash-2, Block S, Greater Kailash II

Nik Baker’s

I am a big fan of Nik Baker’s. It’s not just their pastries that we like, it’s also, their freshly baked bread and other confectionery items. Further, their decadent hot chocolate and creamy cappuccinos just melt our hearts. The positioning of their shop on the slanted road of GK2 across the huge, well-maintained park makes this bakery perfect for an afternoon date. What else does one need in the name of aphrodisiacs? The sweet smell of warm pies, croissants and coffees blended together, filling the air. Adding to this, the sight of your loved one peeping through these warm scents - well, what can I say? Apart from, that you might just end up having, one of the most romantic afternoons of your life.

Must Try At Nik Baker’s: Caramel Custard Pie, Apple Pie, Blueberry Croissant; Tiramisu Italiano

Theobroma

Who does not know about Theobroma and their brownies? You can walk two steps down the slopey road from Nik Baker’s to brownie land. Their signature pastel green coloured walls are just too inviting. Whenever I go to theobroma, it feels like I time travelled back to 1950’s America.

Must try at Theobroma: Brownies, Fresh Fruit Tarts, Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, Parsley & Cream Cheese Danish, Lemon Danish, Apple & Blueberry Danish

Find them at: M-22, Gr Floor, M Block Market, Greater Kailash II

Defence Bakery

The pricing at Defence Bakery is the first thing which will win you over. I never thought in my wildest dream that luxury could very come for such a small price. Defence Bakery has some amazing desserts and snacks. However, they did cut down on the sitting area. They have a wall table accompanied by bar stools, but the sitting area is s bit too cramped. So if you’re in a large group, you might want to do a takeaway instead. This is They also have baked biscuits, bread, baked granola and also fruit baskets for you to stock your munchies cupboard with.

Must try at Defence Bakery: New York Cheesecake; Chocolate Sapphire

Find them at: M Block, 7 Greater Kailash-2

Angels In My Kitchen

It seems like their Pineapple cake is created by angels. Yes! It's that good. Initially, their shop was situated where La Mia stands now. Their business’s growth is quite self-explanatory in terms of the quality of their product: fresh and perfectly sweet. Moreover, they have a beautiful sitting area which is perfect for an after-dinner date. It is not overly bright like the other bakeries. It has soft warm white lights lighting the space with plants on every corner of the store making it soothing.

Must Try At Angels In My Kitchen: Pineapple pastry; Original Lemon Tart; Baked Cheese Cake

Find them at: Shop No M71, M Block Market, Greater Kailash - 2

Nut & Bowls

This one’s for the vegans and the lactose intolerant. From cakes to ice cream, this place serves everything dairy-free and sugar-free. What else can a person want? Additionally, they too have upped their game by making their spacing minimalistic yet stylish. So, guys don’t lag behind and this cafe soon.
